MOUNTAIN MASTERS

Here are few comments on my friends at Mountain Masters.

My boys had a great time with their guides. Olivier survived his day with Daniel, which is not always easy if Dan is pushed the wrong way.  This was Dan’s first “lesson” since age 7, when he was banned for life from Deer Valley ski school. Dan was very excited about going a little bit off pist in the Le Fornet glacier area.

Russell got the extreme skiing that he was looking for during his three days with Edouard. Each day brought more off-pist experience, and increasing challenge. We got a look at a few of the chutes he went down, which were pretty amazing. They got along very well.

I would highly recommend either of these guides, (as well as Mountain Masters), to anyone!

And of course my family still remembers Rupert with kind regards, and were sorry that he was not available this past week.

Val d’Isre remains the world’s greatest ski area, in my humble opinion.  I hope to be able to return sometime in the next few years.

Hi Estelle

Sorry for the delay in replying. We had a very intensive 3¾ hours with Alain. He was excellent at getting us to think slightly differently to previous instructors we have had in the past. At first his instructions took a little thinking about but by later in the week we both felt like we had “got it” what ever “it” is! We were very pleased to have had Alain’s input.

We are skiing again later in the season in Belle Plagne. Do you recommend any particular ski school in that area? ESF is OK but sometimes a different approach is more helpful.

AUSTRALIAN DAY

HAPPY AUSTRALIAN DAY  TO ALL!!!

3 Countries, 6 Resorts, 4 Riders all in 5 days

Just got back from a very interesting trip. A 5 day trip with 4 riders is always going to be a challenge. But with the help of the riders- Vicci Miller, Tyler Chorlton, Ben Kinnear and Ed Clark the riders. Leigh Mytton and Jeff Bateman for doing all the organizing. The trip started in Avoriaz.  With not knowing what to expect of the riding, the first sight in the morning showed to be a promising day ahead. Onething to mention is The Stash a natural freeride come park. We didn’t get to ride it but with fresh powder it would be fun. the next day we were off to Chamonix the land of the Big Bad Mountain Man. First think that comes the mind is why does everyone walk around with ice axes, crampons and ropes????? My advice try the Dog Sleding if the snow is shit!! If you need a place to stay check this joint, Hotel les Cretes Blanches the apre ridng sushi with a Japanese beer to wash it down, now thats what I’m talking about. From there we moved on to Zermatt. With a such a big area to ride in our options were unlimitied. That night after a amazing diner it was time to let loose and have a beer or two. As you could image the next day was a late start,. On the way up to the Italian side I had a very lucky moment, all should I say the people next to me did. The snowpark in Cervinia was our next stop,  Indianpark. Tyler Chorlton even with a hangover put on a show for us all. From there we were off to Saas Fee. This place has some amazing Freeride, one look and you know you will back.  Cheers to everyone who help out and made this trip happen.

NO WORK, TIME TO PLAY

With a morning to spare, fresh snow, blue skies what else is a man to do. Setting off early in the morning and scaling the peak to be from behind. The 2 hour hike up and 25 second ride down was  well worth the effort. Olivier Renassia.

The motto- First lines , first tracks, = every step up is forgotten with every powder turn down.

NEW SNOW = FIRST LINES

With the new snow arriving our eyes were back on the mountain searching for something different. With me doing some boring family work , and Sam Speed doing the same , our thoughts were on other things. That night over a beer and a quick picture slide of what I though would be a a nice line, the old saying come to light- great minds think alike- the same line was to be done!!!! Enjoy
